Germany Basic Information

General Information

 Germany - federal multiparty parliamentary republic with two legislative parties are Bundesrat (it includes representatives of the land) and the Bundestag (parliament).
The head of state - the President. He represents Germany in international law and enters into contracts on behalf of a country with foreign nations.
Chief Executive - German Chancellor (bundeskantsler). He heads the government and determines the main lines of policy.

Geography

Germany is located in the heart of Europe. Germany shares borders with the following states: North - Denmark; East - Poland and the Czech Republic, the south - Austria and Switzerland, the north - France, Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands. In the landscape of the country is located between four main areas: Severomorsk and Baltic coasts, lowlands North-German, Middle-German mountains, Alpine foothills of Oberstdorf.
The highest mountain - Zugspitze, elevation 2964 meters.

Population

The country’s population is approximately 82 million people.

Climate

Average temperature: summer from +20 C to +30 C, the winter about 0С. But summer temperatures can rise up to +35 C, and in winter down to - 20C.
Average annual rainfall: 50 - 80 mm.
In the holiday season, tens of thousands of Germans flock to the Baltic coast, where the beach you can swim and sunbathe.
Domestically, many splendid lakes with clean water and beautiful sandy beaches, often surrounded by forest.

Language

The official language is  German. A lot of Germans (especially in the West) speak English.
The Germans are not complex, where they are treated in broken German. Therefore, traveling to Germany, a good idea to learn a dozen more appropriate expressions.
